About Mr. James

Mr. James Kawasaki was born in Wheeling, WV before moving to Florida for my early childhood years and then eventually coming back to the good Mountain State. As a junior in Music Performance at WVU, he also pursuing minor in music technology where he currently works in recording booths/studios as a producer and musician getting a glimpse of both sides of the field. Mr. James have more than 7 years of hands -on and performing experience and have been teaching drum lines, workshops, clinics and lessons for the marching arts, drum set and percussion since 2023. He has been a part of steel pan ensembles for more than 6 years and have studied African drumming, taiko drumming, rope drumming, Brazilian percussion, Swiss drumming, orchestral percussion and have studied privately with instructor Brian Wolfe from WVU.

He has performed at the international percussion convention in Indianapolis in 2024 and 2025 placing 5th as a freshman and additionally have traveled across the state of WV performing and spreading information about music education, music remembrance and sharing the art he get to call a career.
