About Matty

Matty Hoover is an experienced teacher of all ages and abilities whose passion for creating joyful learning experiences has touched students from young children exploring the piano for the first time to non-piano major college students and retirees fulfilling their lifelong dreams. They are currently pursuing a DMA in Piano Performance and an MM in Choral Conducting from West Virginia University, and hold Piano Performance degrees from Mansfield University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Matty strives to make piano lessons a joyful experience in which students are free to explore in a warm and supportive environment. Their teaching philosophy centers on helping students take ownership of their own learning, ask questions, and develop discipline that extends beyond the piano.

Teaching Experience & Leadership

University Piano Instructor

Taught piano class at West Virginia University and served as instructor at the IUP Community Music School, bringing expertise to collegiate-level piano education.

Community Music Educator

Extensive experience teaching at the Mansfield University PCMEA Lesson Program, the Endicott Performing Arts Center in Endicott NY, and as a freelance piano instructor.
