About Mr. Devin
Mr. Devin Lai is an accomplished violinist and dedicated instructor with over 16 years of formal training and extensive experience in solo, orchestral, and pedagogical settings. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Violin Performance from Northwestern University, where he studied with Blair Milton of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and performed with the prestigious Northwestern University Symphony Orchestra and Contemporary Music Ensemble.
Passionate about teaching, Devin is committed to helping students build strong technique, confidence, and a lifelong appreciation for music. His comprehensive training and diverse performance experience enable him to guide students through both technical mastery and artistic expression.
Performance Leadership & Achievements
Concertmaster & Soloist
Served as concertmaster of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (2017–2019) and has appeared as a soloist with the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, demonstrating exceptional leadership and performance abilities.
International Touring Artist
In 2018, toured internationally with NYO-USA, performing at Carnegie Hall under Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas and collaborating with members of the New York Philharmonic. Remains the only violinist from West Virginia selected for NYO-USA.
