About Ms. Abigail

Ms. Abigail Fabian is an accomplished cellist from Simsbury, Connecticut, whose dedication to both performance and education has shaped her comprehensive approach to teaching. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from Boston University, where she studied with Michael Reynolds, and holds a Master's in Music Education with teaching licensure, also from Boston University. She is currently pursuing her Master's in Cello Performance at West Virginia University, studying with Dr. Erin Ellis.

As a dedicated teacher with more than six years of private cello instruction experience, Abigail brings both pedagogical training and practical teaching experience to her students. She completed her student teaching in high school strings, elementary strings, choir, and AP Music Theory classes in Brookline Public Schools, providing her with a well-rounded understanding of music education across all levels.

Teaching Experience & Leadership

Graduate Teaching Assistant

Currently serves as the graduate cello teaching assistant at West Virginia University, where she assists with teaching the cello studio and performs in the graduate Montani Quartet.

Licensed Music Educator

Holds a Master's in Music Education with teaching licensure and has completed student teaching in strings (elementary and high school), choir, and AP Music Theory at Brookline Public Schools.

Performance & Festival Experience

Abigail's artistry has been shaped by training with world-class musicians at prestigious festivals and masterclasses throughout the United States and abroad:

International Festival Performances: Has attended and performed solo and chamber works at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival, Zodiac Chamber Music Festival and Academy, Borromeo Chamber Music Festival, Decoda Chamber Music Institute, and Techne Music Festival

Elite Training: Studied with renowned cellists including Christine Lamprea, Ariel Barnes, Horacio Contreras, Àngel García Jermann, and Claire Bryant at various festivals and programs

Masterclass Participant: Has performed in masterclasses for distinguished artists Wilhelmina Smith, Meta Weiss, and Horacio Contreras, refining her interpretive and technical skills

Chamber Music Expertise: As a passionate chamber musician, has been coached by esteemed musicians including Pavel Nersessian, Klaudia Szlachta, Heather Braun, Rose Drucker, Yuri Mazurkevich, Daniel Doña, and Mihail Jojatu

Montani Quartet: Currently performs as a member of the graduate Montani Quartet at West Virginia University, continuing to develop her chamber music artistry
